Most Popular GD Topics this Season -2012

Hello Friends,
Its been quite a while that I interacted with you all. Was busy with my MBA and SSB prep.
So, today while scanning through the discussion threads of pagalguy (an MBA preparatory resources website), I came across several GD topics that appeared in GD/PI rounds of several premier MBA colleges.

I am listing out those GD topics, as a food for thought for the future aspirants.
In my view, tackling any GD, demands originality of thinking and a clear understanding of the "problems priorities and solutions"  for the concerned GD topic.
So here we go:-

1)     2012India is better than 1947 India

2)   Women Reservations.

3)   Young Politicians are a myth.

4)   Will privatization stop electricity theft.

5)   Should Salman Rushdie be aloud in JLF (Jaipur Literary Festival) ?

6)   Globalization is good for developing nations.

7)   Corruption in India- who is responsible.

8)   Is MBA overrated in India?

9)   Legitimacy of the actions of Wikileaks.

10) If you cut all the ends, you'll end up in a circle

11) If there was no army.

12) Dependency On Computers.

13) India or West - "Which is the land of Opportunities ? "

For MBA guys\gals:-

I found the list of questions that one is supposed to answer before entering for the PI (common to most major institutes)..

1. Name
2.Date of Birth
3.Graduation Stream
4.PG stream
5.Education qualification: marks
6.Work Experience
7.Family Background
8.Acedemic Awards
9.Extra-Curricular Activities
10.Strengths and Weaknesses
11.Motivation for Post Graduation/Why MBA?
12. Hobbies
13.Major decision you have taken in last six months?
14. Where do u see yourself 5 yrs from now?
15. Biggest Failure?
16. Whom you will save in family if there is fire in ur house.

Please prepare well for subjective questions.. they are almost the same every year..

Another favorite question is:
What progress has been seen by India in the last 5-10 years.. or something on these lines...

See you later,
Take care and Bye

Miles To Go Before I Sleep - Robert Frost

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

-Robert Frost

Word Association Test - An excellent way to test Personality

Primarily used in Psychological Tests conducted for entry into defense forces in India, the Word Association Test or WAT as it is popularly known as, is an excellent way to test the attitude of a person. The test is deceptively simple. All you have to do is to make a sentence using the word shown to you. There will be 60 words. For each word, the candidate is given 15 seconds. Yes, its 15 seconds!!! So, no time for any deliberations and second thoughts. You write what comes first into your mind. This is where the psychologist gains access to your real self.

The general rules for succeeding in this test are as follow.
1) Be positive.
2) Be a part of the solution.
3) Don't preach (don't use words like should, may, would etc...).
4) Avoid phrases.
5) Sentences in past tense only.
6) Don't refer yourself.
7) Turn negative to positive.
8) The sentences must reflect leadership, team-skills and other OLQs(Officer Like Qualities).
9) Preferable to include names of different person. If you start falling short of names, use he(if you are male)\she.
10) The protagonist in your sentence is going to reflect your personality, so be careful while framing the sentences.

CET Results Out !!!

Hello All,
It is a pleasure for me to share something good that has happened. After putting up a preparation of 3 months, I managed to score 99.47 percentile in Maharashtra MBA CET. The actual score being 120/200.

As quite evident, it has been a low scoring paper, thanks to the lengthy logical reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning sections. But after a gruelling preparation program where I attempted close to 50 mock tests, followed by one hell of a final exam, a place in the elite 99.xx percentile is a fitting consolation to say the least.

Right now, the Prestigious JamnaLal Bajaj Institute of Management Sciences, seems like a distant vision at the horizon. Only time (and of course GD\PI results) will tell, whether I have what it takes to be a part of this coveted institute.

The college at second place- SIMSREE, though, seems quite achievable.
My first choice being JBIMS, its time to put some serious effort in for Group Discussions Preparation and General Knowledge Acquisition.

Thanks and Do Good,
Ashish Mishra

Meaning of 'stat' in Medical Parlance

"Stat" in medical parlance is actually not an acronym; it's short for statim, the Latin word for immediately.
